July 24, 2006   In Joanne's own words:

On 9th June I received a phone call at 3.30pm asking me if I would head over to Bromley in Kent and play 'Columbia' in the tour of 'The Rocky Horror Show' - that very evening! All the girls were poorly and there weren't enough understudies to play the roles, so I would have a quick rehearsal and go on to perform carrying the script. Well you know me - if a jobs worth doing... So.. I agreed and jumped in my car, arrived at 6.15pm, had a costume fitting, rehearsed for 1.1/2 hours, and went on to do the show at 8.30pm - without the script!!

It was an absolute trip! I wasn't really that nervous, more excited and totally up for the challenge. The amount of focus was amazing just to remember everything and I was exhausted and exhilarated afterwards. The 1000 members of the audience knew the show better than me I'm sure! I had a fantastic evening and the cast and team were great and really supportive. Hoorah! Rocky Horror seems to keep coming into my life at the moment.

Then I had a call not long afterwards to workshop a new show for Richard O'Brien (who is just the best) called 'The Stripper' which we performed to an invited audience at the Trafalgar Studios on 30th June. The show is based on the book 'The Stripper' from the Carter Brown Mystery Series and I played Annabelle Jackson. Richard O'Brien adapted the script and wrote the lyrics, and Richard Hartley wrote the music. We only had a week to rehearse (a lifetime after my last experience!!) but it went down really well. We are waiting to see if it will be taken and developed further. Fingers crossed

He can't - or won't - having forgotten how to date in this modern world. Until he meets the ideal woman - Eva that is - who turns out to be all wrong for him.
